i mean dont get me wrong, i love the Coens to death.
ive purchased all 13 of their films *including Paris Je T'aime*
...
but this was just.... i dont know.. too whacky for me.
its the oddball comedy for me that I just can't get into.

i mean i can appreciate many aspects of the film - the way it was shot, the witty dialogue, the music ..

but overall its just a movie thats too 'over-the-top' for me..

anyone else agree?

One of their BEST movies hands-down.

So I guess my answer would be a big fat "NO!" :P

I'm with moviemaker on this.

Sure, it's perhaps not as artistic as some of their movies but, for a knock-about comedy, it is excellent.

To each his own, I suppose. But this movie is my personal barometer of whether or not someone and I will get along. If they don't like it, I am almost guaranteed NOT to be socially compatable with them. It's come in quite handy a few times.

The reasons this movie is so good:

1. Fantastic Acting (Only CB film with THREE future Oscars winners)
2. Great Dialog: Come on, nearly every minute of screen time contains a memorable quote.
3. Story: You haven't seen anything like it before or since.

Is it the BEST CB film? No. But it's one of their best.
