I am a long time fan of the brothers and so is my own brother. I get non-stop grief from him for reminding him that the Hudsucker Proxy is a Coen Brothers movie. he acts like he would like to forget it and says it is their worst. Personally I rank it as top 3, with Barton Fink and Fargo.

I mean come on: The cinematography is great.... superb camera angles that really capture that late 50's art deco look, and the music.... Carter Burwell is fantastic at arranging a movie score. he did (by the way) the music for Burn after Reading... I noticed it in the credits after hearing similarities in the two scores.

So who's with me? Is The Hudsucker Proxy in the "best of" or "worst of" column? :x

Hudsucker is great!

It's laugh-out-loud funny ("including the mezzanine" gets me every time), magical (in a kind of Tim Burton-esque way) and beautiful to behold (to with- the snowscape at the beginning).

Your brother is wrong ;-)

hi there!

I'm with you! :D
"hudsucker" absolutely belongs in the "best of" column!

always thought it's underrated. "hudsucker"'s a great comedy and also it carries such a great message!
and let's not forget about the excellent cast - I mean paul newman really did a great job!

(please excuse my english, it's not my mothertongue)

Check out a movie called "Sweet Smell of Success" 1957 and the main characters whose names are J.J. Hunsecker and Sidney Falco.

"They know him - and they shiver - the big names of Broadway, Hollywood and Capitol Hill. They know J.J.- the world-famed columnist whose gossip is gospel to sixty million readers! They know the venom that flickers in those eyes behind the glasses - and they fawn - like Sid Falco, the kid who wanted "in" so much, he'd sell out his own girl to stand up there with J.J., sucking in the sweet smell of success! This is J.J.'s story - but not the way he would have liked it told!"

You think the Coen's are a fan?
