Doesn't look like NCFOM will get it's day in the sun as the WGA strike has led to the cancelling of the Golden Globes http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles ... tory.jhtml

Oscars likely to be at risk too unless the Oscar organisers can come to some sort of one off agreement.

They'll still hand out the awards so the movies can still carry the all important slogans on their posters/DVD covers ets.

Shame though.

I want to extend my deepest deepest apologies to Paul and to everybody in this forum for the previous comment. As I am writing this, I feel deeply ashamed and embarrassed. I wrote it when I found that Joel and Ethan won't be able to pick up the Golden Globes in person. I didn't write this post out of intention to hurt someone, it was out of frustration that this writer's strike is taking long and forever. They should have reached an agreement by now.

As for this forum, I love the new look. It has a flashy and mellifluous feel to it. It is very broad and eclectic and I love the whole style to it.

Paul, I know this might look foolish in writing, but I feel so terrible for what I said to you and for embarrassing and shocking the people in this forum. You and I go several years and for me to say these terrible things to you, I don't mean to sound like Michael Richards apologizing, but I feel deeply remorseful that I insulted you in that manner.

Paul, please accept this note as a apology and I hope you and I can continue to be Coen comrades.

As to everyone in this forum, I apologize if I offended anybody with my comments.

Thank you and long live the Coen Brothers,

Navid Sitarian

So NCFOM is one of the five nominees for Best Adapted Screenplay at the WGA Awards.

I just saw it a second time this week and, once again, the audience I saw it with was less than happy with the ending. (Okay, actually this time it was just one other guy, who just said "Ooookay, that's one of the weirdest movies I ever saw!")

And the film won two Golden Globes: Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Javier Bardem.

Good news we can all get behind.

I'd guess the vote for a dark, edgy film was split between NCFOM and There Will Be Blood. The dull, middlebrow epic taking advantage of the split.
